      EVENT DETAILS
      Critical Policy Analysis Workshop

This workshop will focus on substantive debates within the critical policy studies. It offers presentations and roundtable discussion which will also serve to introduce colleagues working across the disciplines of social science. It also aims to explore the examples of research that uses the critical policy theories, how to develop the research questions and conduct research. Finally, this workshop raises questions about the status of the critical policy studies in the contemporary social science research. These include: What is critical policy study and how does it relate to other major currents in policy analysis theories and research? How does critical policy analysis overlap with and impact on related approach within other disciplines such as political science, international relations, sociology and beyond?  How does critical policy analysis address some of the issues in the philosophy of social science, for example, the nature and scope of the politics, the construction of identities and the role of ontology and epistemology?  Key themes: post-structural policy analysis, discourse analysis (DA), critical discourse analysis (CDA), conversation analysis (CA), the studies of participatory practices, discourse psychology, critical post-colonial studies and the interpretive, argumentative, discursive approach to policy making.
